IT Engineer

City: London, Greater London, UnitedKingdom
Title: IT Engineer
Category: IT
EmploymentType: Permanent
Description:

You will be joining a large-scale desktop upgrade project which has focused on making sure that both clinical and corporate users within the NHS Trust have modernised desktop devices that are compatible with a new major clinical system which is due to go-live later this year. Whilst some of these several thousand devices are still to be deployed, the majority have already been rolled out and the project is moving over to its technical testing and readiness phase. This involves IT Engineers going into clinical and non-clinical services to test that the recently deployed desktop technology and all the connected peripherals (printers, label machines, imaging devices, etc) all work as required and have the desired connectivity. Technical test scripts will be provided for all scenarios that need to be tested, as will the escalation processes and contacts for any major issues that need escalating. A lot of common errors and their required solutions could happen in multiple wards and offices, so Engineers will be need to learn from previous technical failures and experiences and hopefully be able to resolve any issues more quickly from experience as the project progresses.

In order to be considered, applicants must be a skilled and experienced IT Desktop Engineer (2nd line level upwards) who has prior knowledge / experience of testing newly rolled out technology. You will be able to understand and run through multiple different test scripts and understand when issues can be resolved locally and when they need to be escalated to more expert solution teams. You will have strong customer facing skills and will ideally have worked in NHS settings previously, although this is not essential. You must be happy working in a full-time, onsite contract as this role will not include any remote working.
